LA IMPORTANCIA DE LA APARIENCIA PERSONAL

(Primera parte)

Este es un tema arduamente discutido y controversial. Algunas personas no le dan ninguna importancia porque lo ven o consideran como costumbres del pasado que esclaviza a la gente al atenerse a estrictas normas sociales. Sin embargo últimamente es algo que me ha llamado poderosamente la atención por un caso que he discutido hasta la saciedad con algunos amigos y familiares. No voy a tratar o exponer aquí ese caso por razones éticas, humanas, sin embargo quiero exponer mi punto de vista al respecto.

He estado consultando algunos artículos y ensayos sobre este asunto, y he podido comprobar con entera satisfacción que estaba en lo cierto: la apariencia personal es extremadamente importante en la vida del ser humano, hombre y mujer, de todas las edades. No importa si una persona es más o menos atractiva físicamente. Cualquiera que sea el caso, mejorar su apariencia física impacta a los demás y el “yo” interno de esa persona se eleva de modo considerable. Vestirse correctamente en la medida de las posibilidades económicas de cada cual es un elemento primordial porque los demás te perciben como te proyectas.

Vestirse mal, descuidadamente, se envía un mensaje negativo no solamente a los demás sino a ti mismo. El cerebro, al mirarte al espejo, se va adaptando a esa imagen deteriorada y con el tiempo la psiquis, el yo interno, se afectará en la misma proporción o medida.

Hay personas que les gusta vestirse de manera extravagante, existencialista, por varias razones, entre estas pudieran citarse: problemas de inadaptación social; desajustes de personalidad como rebeldía, conflictos internos, rechazo a seguir las normas o patrones establecidos; influencia nociva de los medios de comunicación; desórdenes mentales, etc.

Como hombre que soy me desagrada enormemente ver a una mujer mal vestida, desarreglada. Me pregunto muchas veces ¿cómo a una mujer no le interesa lucir bien, atractiva? Si una mujer es bonita, bien arreglada lucirá mucho mejor; y si no es tan bonita, un barniz, entre cosméticos y ciertos arreglos la harán lucir interesante, simpática, agradable.

Hoy, en estos tiempos, la apariencia personal tanto de hombres como mujeres deja mucho que desear. Lo mismo hombres que mujeres salen a la calle que parecen haber limpiado el patio o el piso de sus casas, sin el más mínimo cambio en su vestimenta. Lo mismo sucede cuando van a una tienda de ropa, a un viaje en avión, al teatro. Lo terrible de todo esto es que este comportamiento social es inducido por los medios de comunicación, enviando mensajes de personas que viven, se proyectan de modo marginal, enajenados sociales, mal vestidos, viciosos, violentos, criminales, etc. El ser humano es muy susceptible de imitar lo malo, las malas costumbres, de corromperse como se corroe hasta el acero.  La persona educada, moderada, noble, es producto de la educación que recibe, y exactamente sucede con lo contrario.

Yo me maravillo con que elegancia vestían las mujeres en las películas del oeste norteamericano, siglo XIX. Una época en la que apenas existían tiendas de ropa. Ellas, en su mayoría, se confeccionaban sus propios vestidos y aun sombreros. También los hombres de los pequeños pueblos vestían de manera elegante, incluyendo los cowboys (vaqueros) quienes usaban pañoletas de colores enlazadas al cuello. Contrariamente a los hombres y mujeres de hoy en día. El vestido, una prenda tan femenina y elegante, ha sido prácticamente substituido por el pantalón. El pantalón en las mujeres, en la época del oeste norteamericano, era visto por hombres y mujeres con desagrado y se criticaba a las mujeres que intentaban usarlos aunque fuese ocasionalmente. Las mujeres jóvenes lucen bien en pantalones, pero solo debe usarse, en mi opinión, de manera casual, deportiva, y no como una pieza de vestir para ocasiones serias. Algunos dirán: los tiempos cambian. Si, los tiempos cambian, pero debemos cambiar de manera positiva. Hay que elevar el espíritu humano y no degradarlo, convirtiendo a las personas en seres deplorables, insensibles a la belleza y al sentido común que garantice la naturaleza humana que pretendemos conservar.
