EL Paraíso
Todos, en un modo u otro, hemos oído hablar del Paraíso. La biblia nos habla en Génesis 12, Génesis 12:1-3 y en otras secciones del significado de la Tierra Prometida: un lugar físico en Israel o en el cielo (heaven). Pero mi intención en este artículo no es discutir con mayor o menor extension lo que dice la biblia sobre esto, sino de un Paradiso, físico, localizado en todas partes o en casi todas. Entonces, ¿a qué Paraíso me refiero? La respuesta es muy simple: el lugar donde habitamos, el planeta Tierra.
¿Quién no ha visto en su vida un hermoso paisaje? Un lugar que se le ha grabado en la mente como una imagen permanente e inolvidable. Y es que nuestro planeta es rico en lugares espectaculares. No cientos, ni miles, posiblemente muchos millones de ellos. Aunque en realidad no necesitamos disfrutar de uno en particular, esplendoroso, para dejarnos asombrados. Bastaría con observar a través de una ventana, un bello amanecer o un atardecer glamuroso.
Mi motivación para escribir este artículo fue observar por varios días la belleza de un simple paisaje visto desde una ventana de mi casa. Tanto en mayo como en junio de este año, 2022, han hecho días de una belleza inusual. Parecían y parecen días de Otoño. Una temperatura sumamente agradable, unos contrastes de la luz solar increíbles, el movimiento leve y contraste de tonalidades de las hojas de los árboles y una brisa suave, fresca, para matizar el espectáculo. Esto me ha hecho reflexionar acerca de lo que realmente tenemos al alcance de la mano y que pocas veces apreciamos.
Un doctor especialista de mi país de origen, una vez comentó a un familiar mío allegado: «Solamente ver un bello atardecer, vale la pena vivir». Esta expresión nunca la he olvidado.
Desgraciadamente, la mayoría de las veces, no somos capaces de ver, apreciar y disfrutar de estos regalos de la naturaleza. Y no solamente mantenemos esta ciega actitud, sino que también, de alguna manera, contribuimos directa o indirectamente a destruir o contaminar esas hermosas vistas como si con ello lográramos vengar nuestras frustraciones. He visto a varias personas secar árboles cercanos a sus casas porque los obliga a recoger o barrer las hojas o cortarlos casi al nivel de la tierra porque sus raíces o su pesado cuerpo son una amenaza para sus casas. También tiramos basura, botellas vacías, bolsas plásticas, entre otras cosas, contaminantes al medio ambiente, en cualquier lugar para que otro las recoja o porque simplemente no nos importa cometer esos actos; quizás por maldad o pura ignorancia.
Los seres humanos con frecuencia somos insensibles al dolor y necesidades del prójimo y, sobre todo, reacios a practicar y mantener ciertas medidas o acciones que ayuden a preservar el medio ambiente. El Paraíso, pudiera, tal vez, no ser uno, pero sí debemos estar seguros que ya alcanzamos uno: El planeta Tierra. ¡Abramos los ojos y cuidemos como es debido este regalo divino y disfrutemos de sus encantos
